Hi all and thanks for such a great community on this subject.
Have a Trane XL90 showing its age, cracked exchanger and it's time to replace.
2130 sq ft 2 story colonial. furnace in basement, 12" of attic insulation. Trane XL14i condenser. ductwork could be better, need to do work on home insulation overall (windows doors).
I've gotten quotes from various large and small outfits here in southern NJ and I've learned a unit is as only good as the install. Initially interested in dual stage, ECM blower motor with some IAQs. Budget is tight during these times. I like the Remi Halo LED for UV. Also have been looking at 10 year labor which adds 300-400 total. Like the dual heat exchangers and the larger heat exchanger warranties on the premium units.
My top quotes are below. All offers will custom fab the output to fill the gap up to the A coil, new return box as well
Was advised not to talk pricing here but will say they all land mid 6k installed w/o the IAQs. Like the Carrier and Trane's but the York is through the gas utility so no new line of credit required there. Another offer for Bryant 962T but they are installing into late Dec which will put the chill on the house (bought a few space heaters in case).
Carrier Infinity Air line item on one quote items seems high, but can't find substantial pricing online to fully eval.
Is 10 year [limited] labor a good call overall?
Seems single stage is approx 1k more so curious on the extra 2 stage valve. I do understand the efficiencies it can offer. With the warming climate over the years wondering if a single stage gets it done along with space heaters to save energy and heating costs.
Wiling to entertain more quotes if someone does South Jersey
