I’m having an interesting issue with my newly-installed Carrier hybrid HP system. The set point is maintained at 71F and the current outside temp is 55F. I have gas furnace lockout set at 35F, no lockouts for the HP, and the system is set to HP mode only. The system continues to maintain the 71F temperature using the auxiliary gas furnace. It will kick on for +-5 minutes and then shut off. It does this every 20-30 minutes, since we have an old farmhouse with mediocre insulation. However, at 55F outside temp, and with the lockout set to 35F, why is the system continuing to use auxiliary gas almost exclusively? I would have figured with the lockout, it wouldn’t be able to even attempt to call for the gas furnace until below outdoor temps are below 35? Any thoughts?
