Questions re ComfortLink II XL1050 Thermostat

About 8 months ago I had an install of an Trane XV19 Heat Pump paired with an XC80 2-stage furnace with a variable speed motor, and a ComfortLink II XL1050 thermostat. Love the system! It's quiet and handles the needs of the house quite well.

In my former house I had an American Standard 2 stage heat pump with a 92% efficiency variable speed furnace with a Honeywell IAQ stat.

I have 2° setback overnight, because I like to sleep a bit cool.

With the IAQ, each morning the stat would display that it was in recovery mode starting some time before the daytime wake period began, with the amount of time in recovery mode varying with the outside temperature and (IIRC) the experience of some prior length of time with the amount of time it took to reach the wake period set temp.

The 1050 never displays that it is in recovery mode. It is often running before the wake period begins, but it's really hard to tell if that's because it is maintaining the sleep period temp or trying to anticipate what it needs to do to reach the wake period set point on time.

The IAQ also had some settings related to how long it would try to run the heat pump only before it would give up and switch to the furnace (mine was set by the installer at 60 min). I don't see any similar setting in the 1050 when I view the setup mode (no, I don't screw with the installer's settings...I just like to know what the equipment is doing so I can ask intelligent questions when things don't seem to be operating as I would expect).

So, my questions:
1. Does the 1050 have a recovery mode but it just doesn't display that fact? If so, is it "learning" the way the IAQ was?
2. Does the 1050 have a similar "I try to reach the set point with the heat pump but I give up if I can't do it in some period of time" method of operating?
