Need Help!! wtih differing supplier recommendations

Hi,

I'm looking to install a heat pump in my current centrally ducted home. I've had a proper home energy assessment done and they came back with heating load = 43,607 BTU/hr and cooling load = 12,660 BTU/hr. I've had 2 HVAC companies come in and provide me quotes.

Company #1 has quoted me a Mitsubishi Zuba 3.5 ton unit OR Bosch 4 ton BOVA 2.0 modulating heat pump with backup heat strips.

Company #2 has quoted me a Mitsubishi Zuba 3.0 ton unit or Carrier 3.0 Ton variable speed heat pump.

My current ductwork is two 5" diameter trunks and one 8" x 22" main trunk. AT 900 FPM max that works out to 1,350 CFM max flow.

At 1,350 CFM that in my books is 3 or a bit over 3 ton units.

Company #2 is telling me that ideally for heat pumps one should use 450 cfm/ton meaning that 3 ton is the maximum.

Company #1 is saying they would increase capacity by adding a "heat dump" to anywhere accessible from the mechancial room in basement or main floor. They also suggesting moving the furnace to just below the "pants" and the two lines after the pants are 8" x 10" anc 8" x 14" which would give more capacity.

Any input that might help me decide which is the better option or if one of them is really out to lunch?

thanks,
