Hello.
I have: small 1974 bungalow 1000sf upstairs, + 1000sf in basement, ducts, good windows, good insulation, tight house. Cold winters + humid summers. I've been quoted for systems from Mitsubishi, Lennox, and various Chinese stuff from Midea (Moovair) and Gree (Tosot). My old Carrier Infinity (before it died at 11 years) was terrific. I'm leaning towards the Mitsubishi.
Questions:
1) Any pros out there have comments on the Mitsubishi equipment, AFTER the 10-year warranty period? (i.e. ridiculous prices that force purchase of a new system, vs reasonable repair costs?)
2) Does experience with this Mitsubishi system show that it will handle de-humidification without over-cooling? (The Carrier Infinity was perfect in this regard.)
The Mits air handler is 3-speed, not variable. The outdoor unit is variable.
3) One dealer is quoting a Lennox HRV. Anyone know who makes Lennox HRVs? Any bad reputation I should be aware of? Any better HRV suggestions for small house with limited install space for the unit?
Thank you.
Background:
I recently had an 11 year old Carrier Infinity heat pump 25VNA024 fail completely (inverter board + suspected compressor), 11 months past warranty. Since pricing isn't allowed, let's just say the estimated repair cost is more than insane :eek2:. Dealers can't do much more than quote Carrier's parts prices. Direct contact with Carrier was completely useless - they just don't care at all.
Current rebates in Canada point to a whole new system instead of only heat pump replacement.
