Hi!
We had out entire HVAC system replaced about 2 years ago, and have started having some strange behavior, and want to see if anyone has seen this before, or knows what the issue is. Maybe a month or two ago, only in the evening/late evening (but not every day), we noticed that the Nest thermostat would display a message that it was not receiving power, and a few minutes later, all would be well. Over the last couple of weeks, it's gotten worse - last night it went several hours before it came back on. It only occurs in the evenings/late evenings, and the last month or so, hasn't been during heavy load periods (I live in hot west Texas, but it's not sweltering right now).
I've checked the system, and confirmed it has power to the HVAC unit itself using a voltage sensor. No breakers are tripped. (If they were, it wouldn't be intermittent, anyways.) I can't find a source for what the problem could be, unless maybe a circuit board or controller was faulty? The consistent time factor is what really confuses me about this issue. We're not part of any smart thermostat group controlled by a provider, or anything like that, so that's out... possibly the Nest is, or is going out? I know that's really uncommon, but last night, I pulled the powerless Nest off the base, charge it via USB cable, and the air came back on when I reattached it.. until the internal battery ran out again. But, this morning, no issues to be seen at the thermostat level.
Any ideas or suggestions on what to check/troubleshoot would be appreciated.
