Zone setup for whole house mini-split system

The local HVAC pro's are not in agreement on this one.

My HVAC Payne 36k BTU package unit is 18+ years young and still producing 48 degrees at the ceiling ducts. Unlike 99% or HVAC owners, I am one that likes to have a plan "B", should the HVAC unit go south. I have decided to go with a WHOLE house Daikin Ceiling Cassette system with (2) outdoor units and a total of 7 (possibly 8) Ceiling cassettes. As for the sizing of the outdoor units, that will be determined by the zoning decision. One of the benefits of having (2) outside units is that if one of the units should malfunction the other unit should still be on line while the defective unit can be repaired/replaced. The wife likes this plan and a "Happy wife means a HAPPY LIFE!".

So, I have talked with 4 different HVAC Pro's, received 4 different responses, and for the questions I asked, I guess it was totally expected based on the number of possible combinations. First off, they do not install that many WHOLE house mini-split Ceiling Cassette systems around here. Below is a break down to the HVAC basics and their responses.

1 - The residence is 1 level, 1000 sq ft Uninstalled outer walls, cement block house in Central Florida, built in 1956. The attic has 12" of blown in insulation and the house is pretty tight. There is a bedroom, living room and my home office facing south, with the office being the warmest. On the north side there is a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and utility room, needless to say they are somewhat cooler. I attached the data that I have on HVAC run times below. There is a lot of "Cooling" runtime.

2. The (2) installation questions I asked were:
- Based on the above information, how should the zone assignments to the outside units be set up for the least amount of runtime?
- What size should the (2) outside units be, based on the zones, previous HVAC size and previous run times?

It would be GREAT if they made pressurized "Quick Connect/Release" HVAC fittings that kept the pressure intact for the mini-split system tubing. If you did not like the system performance of a zone setup, you could have the HVAC Tech change the arrangement for another zone scenario. Wishful thinking! Maybe some day...

Back in the day, I probably would have tackled this project, but at 73 I prefer doing the planning/leg work and just "Call the Guy"! The VA doctors probably would have something to say about me crawling around the attic, it seems they have something to say about everything else I do.

Your thoughts.
