New residential member here (go easy on me),
I have a question regarding my new home being built, contractor installed my 2000sf walkout basement unit and used a 1.5ton compressor with a 3ton coil on the furnace. Lennox unit, NOT an AHRI match. I have read that a mismatch like this may cause a LACK of dehumidification in basement, which is important to me in a basement! When I questioned him he said a larger coil actually improves dehumidification since it has a larger surface area.
To me this does make sense but everything I am reading says there could be issues with dehumidification..? SO, why would he have done this? Because that was all that was available at the time of install? I have read that it is a common practice to oversize coil for SEER rating, but 2x?? Installer says extended warranty has been filed so don't worry.(that doesn't make me feel too good)
Called Lennox, 1hr wait no answer, sent Lennox email, told me to talk to my local dealer, (who I am questioning), SO I CANNOT GET ANY ANSWERS!!
Could one of you nice guys help me? Is this ok, or should I make it an issue before I take ownership?
Thanks,
