All work done professionally but no fix after almost 90 days
Unit had a coil rupture
Coil replaced professionally
11 days later unit down
Believed clip on thermistors bad and/or controller board
Suggested override to bypass EEV. Unit ran with thermostat control
4 days later unit down. Bypassed all controllers now running out of test section manually
Coil crew had kicked off condensate line flooding bathroom beneath (not related to failures, but humorous I guess, maybe someday at least) Flood remediation team removed walls, ran DHÂs etc
Board ordered (CNT07508), stepper motor ordered, thermistors ordered
Long delay (Parts shortages as yÂall know)
Board, stepper motor thermistors ultimately replaced and positioned accurately. Unit operational from thermostat
4 days later inop. No cooling, fan running
Code for inverter over temp was being thrown
Replaced heat sink compound on inverter per spec. Unit operating normally.
2 days later unit not cooling, fan running.
Unit wouldnÂt run even in manual if outdoor temp was over 100, which it was everyday until the sun was fully down (Texas)
Loaner inverter drive installed thermostat ordered, unit operational
4 days later unit not cooling fan blowing
New, warranted inverter drive installed, this time I read aloud how to put the heatsink grease on per spec as it wasnÂt done correctly before this. Also installed a different surge protector even though mine showed to be fine. Unit operational.
3 days later unit down. This time NO CODES
Note: there were many days between these occasions awaiting parts, this the 3 month span
Okay. This thing will run, for a few days, then cooling will go away even though commanded from the thermostat, status will show Âfan running which it will, while filling the house with warm humid air, and resets of all kinds wonÂt bring it back up, including allowing for caps to bleed off, pulling thermostat from the wall, etc.
While it is try IÂm a homeowner, IÂve been a tech in other fields for 38 years, IÂve watched the Trane training videos I can access, IÂve chased the failure codes, IÂve read the CDA codes, I did the drive diagnostics along side the AC tech, because he is out of ideas and parts to swap, and IÂm in this thing thick while my wife is less than enthused, as IÂm sure everyone can understand. I get the logic circuitry, the start up checks, the self checks to modulate fan speed(s) and/or stepper the valve for Freon juicing according to deltas. What I donÂt get, is what in the world is dropping out after 3-4 days?!?!
It all started in the attic, and I went up to make sure he didnÂt melt a wire on that coil install, or chafe a harness while wrestling around in tight quarters, and saw nothing obvious, though admittedly I can only last so long up there at my age now and the attic temps. I promise IÂm listening if anyone has any ideas, because even when the tech calls Trane they just read down a flow chart type sheet, and either it comes back after a part change, or some crazy reset sequence that never seems the same twice, but it doesnÂt last and the fails are the same: no cooling, fan running, house frog boils me before I notice. At this point I have a 14,000.00 boat anchor that only runs in test charging mode. DonÂt get me wrong, IÂm grateful to have that during August in Texas, but after 3 months of waking up at night sweating after it shut off and timed out IÂm getting a little frazzled. Yes, I do turn the unit off so when it times off it doesnÂt blow hot air. Just to further paint the picture, I had to cancel a vacation while the house was flooded/wet and I was the thermostat, then the mold in here got me one heckuva lung infection, and the crew(s) are still trying to get my walls rebuilt, attic insulated, and baseboards reinstalled correctly after that not going well at all (labor shortages, as you know) Not crying to yÂall, just painting a picture of end of rope and out of ideas and wanting help, please.
