Oil traps on 2.5 ton goodman

Recently hired some "pros" to install new duct and start up a system(2.5 ton goodman heat pump)
I was planning on a DIY install but had other projects that needed to get done so i hired a legit company, the manual from goodman states when the AHU is installed above the condensing unit (no mention of height limits) an oil trap should be installed.
The company comes and sets the unit and runs the line sets, no oil trap.
i ask the supervisor about it he says "we only do oil traps when there is a 15' elevation change" i tried contacting goodman to get clarification and no luck they wont speak to end users juat looking for clarification should i insist on an oil trap? The way he unit sits its about 6' elevation change.
They also used a sawzall to cut open the suction line on the AHU, and am quite concerned about copper shaving floating around in the system.
