I have a new, 4200 sf home with spray foam insulation and a 3 ton downstairs, 2 ton upstairs Trane XV18 system in Houston, TX.
All summer we've noticed discomfort in the afternoons/evenings. It's been pretty much 100 degrees every day all summer. We keep both thermostats set at 72, and around 4pm the units will stop holding temp. If no one is home they'll both creep up to 74 and won't return to 72 until 10pm. If we're home and doing normal activities (cooking, going out the back door, etc.), the temp will get up to 75-77 and won't return to 72 until midnight or later. The dehumidify set point is 45% on both units, and it rarely gets to that.
The company that installed the units have basically been living at our house. They spent a week here most days, all day. I think in-total they've been here 14 hrs. They said they had things figured out, we left on vacation, and now that we're back, the evening discomfort continues with no changes.
I'm planning on reaching out to them again tomorrow, but it's super disruptive having them over all day. I just hate when I don't understand things, but I guess these are complicated units? Any advice on what I should ask the installation company when they come back? I'm having trouble trusting them since they've been here so much, claimed it's fixed, then no changes in our experience.
