Daikin Ducted Heat Pump Operation

Hello everyone,

I am having a terrible experience with my Daikin Heat Pump. My system runs a ducted air handler on the main level and one ductless head. Upstairs there is another air handler for my entire 2nd story. My issues are with the upstairs system. I notice I get a pretty terrible split between return and register air of about 3-7 degrees on the regular (sometimes 10 degrees at best). This is usually when my thermostat is set to around 68. Often times the system will not reach temperature and just run constantly. The most frustrating part is when I drop the stat to 63 all of the sudden I can quickly get cold air around 56/57 degrees and a better split between the return and register air.

So far my installer has shortened the length of the return and added rigid elbows at Daikin's suggestion. Daikin also had him dump the refrigerant and do a nitrogen test and then refill to factory settings. I also had an attic fan installed to help cool the attic. So far nothing has worked.

My contractor who did the install has been here many times to try and fix the situation but nothing changes. I am hoping to find someone on here who has experienced a similar issue and can point us in the right direction. TY
