Coastal Compressor system upgrade question.

We bought a 1200 sf two story townhouse/ condo last year on the coast of South Carolina. Current system is a Goodman 2.5T HP from 2011 that is starting to show its age (rust/ fin corrosion). Air handler is in the hall closet ... not very quiet.

My initial thought was to do a two speed condenser / VS air handler and fix the messed up (leaking) ductwork around the unit. The place was built in the late 80's and my guess the ductwork was where it would fit rather than were it should go. The second floor is just the modest master bedroom and nice sized bath -- two slightly overside supplies and one return.

The first installer recommended a new Carrier Coastal compressor and matching 2.5 air-handler -- fix the ductwork. The guy that has been doing the maintenance for the past 7-8 years told me over the phone he would lean towards the Heil 2T air-handler (FVM4X2400BL)and 2.5T Coastal condenser (N4H430CKP101)

Both thought the 2 speed was overkill and no coastal compressor. available .... understand the Carrier and Heil are the same equipment. The basic 14 seer Carrier/ Heil seems to be all over the place.
