Residential homeowner/handyman needs thermostat help

I've learned there are a couple ways to program a digital thermostat. Not for time of day or on and off but rather the "differential" or sometimes called "offset". One way is for "economy" and the other for "comfort". 'stat's I've used like honeywell are factory set for comfort and use a one half a degree setting for cycling on the unit for A/C. For me this results in the unit cycling 3-4 times an hour at night. Some brands of 'stat's have a setting for economy which allows for the internal setting to be set to one or two degrees which of course reduces the number of cycles per hour at the expense of ambient temperature that may feel a bit warm before the unit cycles on. I want economy over comfort and have asked many pro's about this without success. Is there a thermostat that has this feature? I have purchased an Aprilaire 8444 that I thought would solve the issue but apparently it doesn't have the feature or I can't figure out how to program it. Some advice would be greatly appreciated.
