Best way to cover plenum holes.

So I want to remove two 10" elbows I have for my furnace, one for the hot side, and one for the cold air return. Its from a dual zone system that I removed the bypass for after setting it up correctly about 3 years ago.

While its not affecting anything furnace wise, as I have the elbows capped, they are in the way occasionally when in there, I hit my head on them sometimes, they arent doing anything, and look like ass after 3 years/

Whats the best metal to repair these with? I was looking at aluminum flashing rolls at home depot, but they seem to be different metal, or not as thick.

Does that matter if its a different material as long as its metal. I plan on screwing it into place with self tapping screws and then using aluminum foil tape around all the edges for an airtight seal.

Reason for the roll is the cost and easy to cut to size and availability.

But want to ask here first since the experts on here have given me such great CORRECT information in the past.
