I bought an old 1 story pier and beam house with a new HVAC system just installed a few months before I closed. The heat and air in the Dallas area seem to be working fine. The HVAC system is in a closet in the middle of the 1300sqft house sitting on a wood frame one foot above the house floor. When I went to change the filter, I noticed that the air intake/filter is on the bottom of the system, and pulls air from that 2x2x1' area between the floor and the system. That little area is vented on the two sides exposed in the hallway. No vent exists on the floor to pull air from the crawl space. I've never owned a house with a crawl space, and the air in the house just seems to circulate with no fresh air coming in. Does anyone know if that is intentional and should be installed that way?
