Waiting on long turnaround times on response from manufacturer tech support and my contractor is swamped with burst pipe calls (-10 for the last week) so I thought I would try here to see if anyone has heard of these symptoms before.
Brand new 5-ton Ecoer heat pump installed in a 3-stage system. It's been below temp for the heat pump to be activated but if I go outside I can still hear it making a hissing noise occasionally even though it hasn't been running. Almost sounds like the defrost cycle but again, it's not running. I have a home energy monitor and it's showing the unit constantly drawing power, so it's doing something even though it's not running. It doesn't do it 24/7 but it will do it for a few hours then stop.
Thoughts on what it could be or suggestions on debugging steps or questions/info to give the manufacturer or my contractor to help diagnose?
