Hello experts!
I have a Goodman GMVM97 modulating furnace installed 4 years ago that just conked out this morning in very cold weather here in DC. The error code is E0 -- lockout due to multiple ignition retries.
An authorized Goodman technician came to check it out. He said the gas valve was not opening when charged so we will need a new gas valve.
The thing is we had this exact same issue -- and had the gas valve replaced -- 3 years ago. So I am thinking there may be some other root cause. Any theories on what may be happening? I don't want to keep replacing the gas valve every few years.
We've had a ton of problems and errors with this unit over the years. Last winter we had the pressure switch replaced which seemed to fix some of them. We've also had the motherboard replaced (twice I think), igniters cleaned, etc. etc. at various points. We have a second system upstairs that has worked reliably the entire time. I'm wondering if there is either something fundamentally wrong with this unit or perhaps the physical installation.
Thank you for any advice!
