As I posted here (hvac-talk.com/vbb/threads/2227967-SkyMark-SkyPak-SGAD-unit-improve-AC), I have a condo with an old SkyMark that will be difficult to replace. It provides insufficient cooling.
All the windows in my unit face the south. I currently have motorized shades (just a thin layer of material which is opaque to the sun). I wonder if replacing them with insulated cellular shades could make a difference so far as reducing heat? I can't change anything on the outside, so the sun is still going to heat the glass regardless. I can't tint the windows. Whatever window coverings I use, they must appear white on the outside.
