Newly aded AC - furnance shuts off before reaching temp

Hey all.

A quick question for you:

I just had A/C installed onto my existing furnace this afternoon and it blows COLD. Love it. There was a lingering smell when having the AC on which I thought could have been refrigerant but then I read it could also be the new thermal tape on the coil pack box. I thought to try and get rid of the smell I'd run the furnace a little but it felt like my heater wasn't working as well. I could be wrong on that, but then I noticed that before reaching the set temp of 76, the furnace and blower would shut off at 74. I would not hear a click on the thermostat. It then fires back up and comes on (no click) about 30 seconds later. If the furnace is on and I drop the temp below the current temp, I hear the normal click.

I'm using the same thermostat as previous and the contractor and I went through the thermostat setup process to add the new AC. Anyone have any idea? Contractor is closed so thought I'd try here just to see if there was anything I'm missing. Thanks for your help or suggestions.
