My power bill last month was double normal and when checking the heat pump as the temps went from cold to warm here in South Carolina I noticed the indoor fan of my Goodman 3Ton keeps on running and also seems to be supplying some level of heat while doing so even when turned to AC.
I removed the thermostat in the house(standard Honeywell digital) but fan continues to run and seems to blow semi-warm air. So 'think' not an issue with indoor thermostat.
The contactor and control board are new but I'm wondering if maybe this unit needs either a new time-delay relay or a thermostat relay. Could a faulty thermostat relay cause both the fan to run and perhaps energize part of the heat strips causing my power bill to skyrocket? Or could it be in concert with the time-delay relay too? Or is there a chance something on the defrost board would cause any of this?
