Wondering what thoughts you pros have about the XV18, XV19, and XV20i heat pumps from Trane. I'm going to get a pair of one of them, but having a tough time deciding.
One system (upstairs) will be 2 ton and have electric backup heat and the other system (main level) will be 3 ton and have propane furnace backup heat.
Space is not an issue. The quote I got on the XV19's were marginally higher than the quote on the XV18's, but the XV19's higher HSPF seemed interesting as we'd be able to keep running in heat pump mode to a bit lower temps. Also, the units will be sitting next to our screened in patio, so the quieter operation seems like a value add. But, I was looking at the literature and the XV19 sizes I'd be using can only go down to 50% capacity, while the XV18/XV20i can go down to 25%, so I'm not sure...
When I asked my contractor about the XV20i, he dismissed it saying that it was basically the same unit as the XV18.
Thoughts?
