Recent furnace install - not so great

Hello everyone I'm new here and located in Ontario Canada.

I recently had a furnace installed for a really good price ($3000) from a business out of Toronto that I found on Kijiji. After a couple days the deal which appeared too good to be true, was.

A day after I could smell a small gas leak which appeared to be coming from the gas line going into the new furnace. I bought a gas leak detector and confirmed the leak.

I then called a HVAC company close to me and they came out a few hours later to take a look at the leak.

Immediately the tech told me who ever installed the furnace did so improperly and I should report it to TSSA. He basically told me all the gas fitting connections had the wrong type of sealant on them and he had used a type of Teflon tape which supposedly isn't allowed in Canada?

He further said that it wasn't obviously pressure tested as the leak would have been immediately been discovered. He noted that the pressure test tag wasnt in the right spot and that portions of the tag werent even filled in.

There was also some minor issues with the venting but its apparently easily fixable. In total they quoted me $1500 to essentially reinstall the furnace.

I called the company that installed the furnace to tell them all these issues and they tried to tell me the local HVAC company was just likely lying to me to make money and that they would come fix the leak. I honestly don't feel comfortable with them touching my furnace if there's so many errors on a basic install so I declined their offer.

My gut is telling me this Kijiji "company" is hosing me and the local place is likely legit? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance
