Hello everyone!
Recently, me and my fiance purchased our first home, and one thing we noticed after purchasing the home is that something is a little strange with the existing controls system. Let me set the picture here..
We own a 3-story house, with (1) thermostat on each floor. The third floor thermostat works just fine, but on the second floor thermostat, I noticed that when I turn on the AC/Heater, it cools/heats my first floor, and vice versa, where when I turn on the AC/heater on my 1st floor thermostat, it cools/heats my second floor.
Additionally, when I turn on the AC/Heater, on all 3 floors, I notice the temperature shown on the thermometer goes all crazy. For instance during this past winter, I would heat all (3) floors to 70F, and my 1st floor thermometer reads 94F when it's not even that hot on the 1st floor. Is this an air balance issue?
I was hoping I could get some advice on what direction I should go? I'm not an HVAC expert by any means, but if it's something I could do myself, I would love to try and learn, or should I leave this to professionals? Any advice would help. Thank you!
