Hi folks, installed a new TXV on a 5 ton Luxaire system, 2008 model, R410a. Using a fieldpiece 480 digital manifold.
Hi pressure 340, low side, 125. Outside air was 55F. Inside air 67F. I went to lunch had my helper stay on the job, close the king valves and blow the line set and evap charge so I could change out the TXV when I got back. Change it out, vacuumed down to 700 microns, opened king valves, loaded in charge by weight, around 10 lbs, (long line set), 2 story house. I keep getting -12 sub cool and - 34 supercool on my gauges! I bump refrigerant into it and subcool jumps up to good numbers then goes back to negative numbers. I am thinking my helper dumped a lot more charge out of the condenser without closing the valves correctly and hes not being honest and its starving for refrigerant, but DANG, I HAVE THOSE PRESSURES that seem to be good! PLEASE, ANYBODY HELP FOR ADVICE, At this point Im willing to give my phone number for help.
