To honor the requirements of this thread, I did not put the price of the base model but simply the additional cost of the upgrades so you can help me decide which is the best path to choose.
Layout of house. Ranch style. 3 Bedroom /3 Bath Upstairs has 2600 SF. 1 Bedroom / 1 Bath Downstairs finished studio/basement has 400 SF.
Electric Utilities. I will be adding a Propane Tank and whole house backup generator.
I bought a house in NC and the builder who is doing the remodel suggested a particular HVAC contractor. The HVAC Contractor, whom I have never met, has recommended the following options:
Option A - Basic) All-electric heat pump options for the XV18 inverter HP with Variable AH
Option B) $1,212 Additional for for the XV20 inverter HP with variable AH
Option C) The dual fuel options are $3,006 for the XV18 inverter heat pump and XC95m modulating furnace
Option D) $4,217 for the XV20 inverter heat pump and XC95m modulating furnace.
All options include: replacing the ductwork, venting bath fans, dryer vent, and range vent, and a high efficiency media filter.
What questions should the HVAC contractor? Do you have a suggestion as to which model I should choose?
