i am getting bids for upgrading 2x lennox Air Conditioning units from the 14ACX to the EL18XCV (or maybe the XC20, but i doubt its worth the extra). The air handlers are lennox CBA38MV's. we are in florida and want to improve our dehumidification - we like to run the pureair s system, but with the single speed compressor it puts the moisture back in the air so the humidity control isnt great. i figure the variable speed units will fix that
one of the bids said i need a lennox 88k38 discharge air sensor 'for more precise dehumidification operation'. But i cant find anything about the operation of this sensor except that it is necessary for evenheater function. we wont have a heat pump, and it rarely gets that cold here anyway.
its an extra couple hundred for the two sensors, so it would be nice to know why i need them since i cant find anything on the lennox site.
can anyone explain this to me? thanks
