Proposed new Bosch IDS 2.0/American Standard system

So I live in So Cal in the AQMD area that requires the ultra low NOX furnaces which I hear are noisy as all getup, can run super hot and can cause callbacks. Our mechanical closet is in the center of our house and we would hear everything. Our house is an 1800 sq ft ranch with a 35 year old 3.5 ton AC and a natural gas furnace. The AQMD is offering a substantial rebate if you replace a NG furnace with a heat pump, enough to pay the increase in heating costs for a few years, and we’ll be gone by then.

A very detail oriented contractor, who comes highly recommended, won’t install those AQMD furnaces—Trane won’t even make them. Instead, he likes the Bosch IDS 2.0 system modified to electrically and physically fit our house. He uses an American Standard blower cabinet because it’s 120vac (Bosch is 240vac) and he mounts the Bosch coil on top of it so he can use the existing gravity piping to handle the condensate whereas the Bosch system has the coil at the bottom (beneath the fan) and would require a condensate pump. The AS blower is a 2-speed ECM, just like the Bosch unit. He says the SEER should still be up there.

He is proposing:
Bosch Outdoor unit BOVA-60HDN1-M20G
Bosch Coil BMAC4248BNTF
American Standard blower cabinet P0V0B000M40S
Filter cabinet: Aprilaire 2210 w/MERV13 filter
Honeywell T10 Pro thermostat with remote room sensor.

He spent 1/2 hour in our attic, mapping out our new(ish) ducting that I replaced. He recommends bumping the main ducts 2” to get the necessary flow and SP.

Does this sound like a valid system or Frankenstein? He says he installs 25 of these a year, and gave me three references—whom I called and they love their setups—especially the lower AC bills.

If he installed a Bosch air handler, does he really need a condensate pump since the coil is still over the drain pipe? It will have 28 inches of head instead of the 70 inches currently. Is 28 inches above the slab still enough to push condensate the 12’ laterally and out of the house, or is a pump needed?

I don’t see the big deal about the voltage. The FAU has a dedicated romex, and it could be converted to 240v with some black tape at the service.

Thanks
