Hey guys i appreciate any help i can get I am so confused its not even funny. I tried reading the relevant manuals but it confused me even more.
I have a 910 square foot single story house with a newly installed 2 ton Goodman heat pump and AHU model numbers GSZC160241 and AVPTC25B14.
There are 6 vents (5 are 6in ducting, bathroom is 4in) and 1 return.
The old 2 ton set up had a plenum box with a size of 30 in deep, 18 in wide and 12 in high it had the flex duct connected like my diagram.
AHU is in attic horizontally (see diagram). I am trying to get an idea of what the ducting and plenum box should look like. From what i have read the plenum height and width is determined by the necessary tonnage, in my case 2 tons. Using the equation i found online, which may or may not be correct, Flow Rate= Velocity x Area, I used 800 feet/min for velocity and 400 CFM per ton. I end up with needing a 1 sq ft (12 high by 12 in wide). To find depth it said to take the diameter of the blower fan size and multiply it by 2.5. My AHU has fan diam of 9.5 in, so a plenum depth of 28.5.
With all that said i should have a plenum that is 28.5 in deep, 12 in wide and 12 in high? Does it matter that the supply air opening is 16.375 x 11.3? If I use this size plenum would the diagram below still work for ducting(this is what the old ducting looked like)?
Long story short what size plenum would you use and how would you run the ducting?
Note:The green box connected to the AHU is the plenum with the flex ducts coming out of it.
