I currently have register boots with 6" collar but am upgrading from 6" to 8" flex duct. The guy who's doing my ducting said "the old registers in my house are built better than the newer registers, they don't make em like they used too" He wants to keep the 6" registers and use a reducer. Will this defeat the purpose of 8" ducting.
