I have a small Amana wall heat/cool unit newly installed and the first thing I noticed was that it is heating great, even a couple degrees over setting, but it will finish heating then after 30 seconds or as little as 15 it will kick on again even though the temperature has not dropped in the room in any discernible way. Runs for a minute or two then shuts off, and then after so many seconds, back on, and has been doing this constantly for a few days. Again, nice and toasty in there, so I dont think it is a matter of it being unable to heat sufficiently. Folks who installed it think maybe this is due to the fact it was too cold to caulk the sleeve at the time so outside air is maybe hitting unit thermostat within it and making it kick on immediately regardless of inside temp. I guess my question is, does that sound realistic that caulking could solve this or should I ask them to look at anything else?
