Inducer fan not mating properly with the furnace, how bad is this?

We had the primary and secondary heat exchangers replaced on our Carrier furnace, and once it was done the inducer motor would make a loud grinding sound upon startup randomly. I cannot attach mp3, so the sound is at vocaroo.com/12gRuf6Qwwp7
So I took a closer look and found that the inducer is not even mating with the furnace properly and there's quite a gap between on the top.
The contractor who did it came, saw it and said it's ok because it's not leaking water. I tried to ask another contractor and they said they've seen this and it may be normal.
How can this be normal? The fan will suck air through there and it should impact the combustion mixture.. am I missing something?
Also what did they do wrong so this is not lining up? The inducer screws are not adjustable, so something must be bent or misaligned somewhere.
