Recently, we had an Aprilaire 800 installed in our 4 Ton, 2 zone Goodman unit. During the winter, we leave the blower fan running continuously as weÂve found that it provides for even air distribution and circulation. This works with the humidifier as well, since it has a constant airflow over the humidistat in the return duct.
I noticed that even though the humidifier is running and calling for blower fan, the fan will still turn off during the furnace start up cycle. Its off for maybe 30seconds or so, then spools back up once the furnace is up and running...i assume this is an energy thing to allow it to get to temp before putting air over it. Anyway, when the blower turns off, the humidifier is still going full steam ahead (pun intended)...and that thing puts out a LOT of steam. Also, due to ducting constraints, we are basically at the minimum absorption distance between the distributor and top of the duct (where its splits to the various areas of the home). I can only imagine that every time that blower turns off to allow for the furnace to ignite, thereÂs 30 seconds of steam condensing in the top of the duct...so IÂm concerned about rust.
So the question: Is it possible to force the fan to run through the furnace startup when the humidifier is running to prevent condensation buildup in the duct (and would there be other reasons why that would be a bad idea)?
Also, am I concerned over nothing?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
