I replaced the fan motor on my a/c and matched it based on the sticker that is on the motor itself.
It reads 1PH, 60Hz, 3/4 hp, 120/240 V, 1050 RPM and 9.6/6.8 AMP
I installed the motor and it works but then I noticed the sticker on the outside of the furnace housing, which specifies the fan motor as 2.5 AMP.
Everything matches except the new motor I put in has a (much) higher amp rating 9.6/6.8 vs 2.5
Is it OK to use the motor? The same type has been in the unit for 10 years, not sure why it differs from what's on the furnace sticker.
Thanks.
