Bosch BVA/BOVA for zoned system?

Replacing zoned system, 2 1/2 ton. Dealer has suggested BVA36WN1M20 air handler and BOVA36HDN1M20 heat pump, in part because this will work with existing zone equipment (including Honeywell board). Alternative we are looking at would be American Standard variable speed, and would cost significantly more because would require new zone equipment. I'm green on all this stuff, but from what I read, variable speed is the way to go with a zoned system...but would the Bosch multiple speed setup work as well (or nearly as well)? Or should we step up for the full variable speed AS? thx
