Separate room replacement recommendation

What a great site. Have lurked for years for great information. Rules read and hope to not break any.
I have a 1.5T 13 Seer HP, that is 10 years old, regular maint. by my local dealer. It serves an addition(bedroom and bath) that could not be tied into the larger system for the rest of the house(2 stage,vs, forced air gas and 3T A/C, new 2015). This addition is 500 sq. ft., very tight with adequate insulation, including floor(over crawl space). Being 10 years old and only 13 seer, I think I am ready to replace, even though I realize it probably has some life left. I am proactive and don't want to have to make a snap decision when it decides to go.
Have already talked to a couple of dealers, but still on the fence which way to go, although it looks like a higher seer HP may be my only option. I am right on zone 3 and 4 border, so I do get some cold temps. My first choice would be a dual fuel, but the smallest gas furnace is an ICP Bryant/Hiel 26k btu, single stage, fixed speed ecm. However, I am fearful this would be too much for this space and would short cycle too much.
My regular Bryant dealer has given me some options, w/ price points, and just a straight replacement 16 seer HP with matching air handler may be my best option. I have another dealer yet to get back. A 16 seer will give me some payback, especially with the federal tax credit. Also quoted a ducted mini split, but it just doesn't justify the price. My dealer agreed, but wanted to give me the option. Also quoted an entry level, but that wouldn't gain me anything. He didn't quote on a dual fuel.
Really, my main question is regarding a dual fuel w/ the 26k Bryant. Would it be too much for this room? Haven't priced it yet, but won't even consider if it won't work. Also might add, as we( wife and I) get older, we like a little more temp in the winter. Higher the temps, more work for a HP. I think I know the answer, but just wanted some confirmation. However, should I be surprised, would just an add on ac be advisable in place of a HP?
If I can only go with a HP, I can't see going more than 16 seer, in that something higher seer, the price really starts out pacing any energy savings, and many 17's start adding 2nd stage.
Thanks to the HVACOPCOST.com table, I confirmed much of my computations on energy savings. Looks like about $60-80/yr. with a 16 seer, and as much as $160 w/ a dual fuel.
Any one that has heated/cooled this small of an area, sans a mini split, any thoughts. With the tiny homes, etc. getting popular, I was hoping by now a smaller gas option would be be on the drawing boards.
