Good Morning.
I am hoping for some assistance. I live in CT and had this particular Heat Pump installed in 2015 with a fxm4x3600A inside air handler.
I have always used the Programmable thermostat that the installers installed with it and never thought much about it. Until recently. There was a really good
deal on the ECOBEE3 Lite smart thermostat which i purchased and installed with the help of ECOBEE.
I had a weird issue the other day when I noticed the house wasNOT
getting warmer but instead getting colder. I checked outside and the compressor wasn't running and the ECOBEE was saying stage 1 heating, but all i was getting was cool
air as the FAN was the only thing running. So it wasn't running in AUX mode, but thought it was running in Stage 1 however the compressor wasn't on. ECOBEE
has a setting called "Compressor Min Outdoor Temperature" - Basically means Do not run the compressor below this outdoor temperature. when I had this issue it was set to
30 degrees, outside temp according to the ECOBEE was 32 degrees (don't know where that came from). Anyway I changed this setting to 35 degrees and now the AUX heat kicked
in (obviosuly no heat Pump). I find that 35 degrees seems too warm for the heat pump not to run and honestly even 30 degrees. Anyway my question is how do I know if there
is some other thermostat on the unit outside that blocks the heat pump from working at a certain temp and how do i know what the temp is? Any other suggestions as to
running an ECOBEE on this heat pump would be greatly appreciated.
THanks
Rich
