I can't post links, sorry, a little cut n’ paste in place of link if you could
Looked at all sorts of T-stats. Maybe I am just too picky but I have a specific set of requirements.
I have a newish 2-year-old Goodman Dual Fuel setup propane, 4 ton Heat Pump. Can’t post the link
GMSS960804CNAA
Cased Coil and single-stage Heat Pump outside
Honeywell TH9320WF5003 Wi-Fi 9000
Stat is wrong one but working with manual twisting of gas valve, I just turn it off, if I need Em heat I pull fuse to Heat Pump, flip to EM and turn gas on. Installers supplied this and it was wrong. Both HP and Propane on at same time. Installation screens clearly say need Auxillary Kit needed set up for Fossil Fuel.
Located in middle KY most days are moderate temps in winter maybe 30’s are considered cold, can get down to singles or teens on occasion.
Here is what I want-
Dual-Fuel Compatible
Complete control of Aux propane heat (via Droop setting?) while in Heat Pump mode.
Ability to lockout Aux heat until outside temp is below X whether determined by a wifi connection to a service or an outside temp sensor.
I would like Aux Propane to engage while in defrost mode.
Happy with my existing T-stat but it is the wrong one. Honeywell WI-Fi 9000 that does not support Dual Fuel. No worries, just a slight PITA. I keep the gas shutoff and the Aux will not kick in. If I want propane heat I go pull the disconnect at outside unit, turn gas on and switch T-stat to Emergency Heat. Only have to do this when real cold (maybe below 20 of into teens). If I don’t keep the gas off the propane will kick in at same time as heat pump for Aux call, that would be bad…..
I am considering just fixing what I have, present stat is attractive, easy to read and operate, paid for and wifi enabled it works. If I add Fossil Fuel kit
Google AFE18-60a installation instructions
As I understand-
Heat Pump operates normal in Heat mode unless an Aux is called for. When Aux (propane) is called for the Heat Pump is disabled and Propane kicks in. Defrost is allowed and Aux (propane) can operate.
This in NOT really what I want. I want to lock out the Aux call above say 30 degrees (I will use Emergency for comfort and heating speedup above 30 if needed) and still allow Defrost and Emergency Heat override. If I add the OT18-60A
Google OT18-60A installation instructions
and setting for 30 degrees. Will this disable the Aux (propane) above 30 yet still allow Aux below 30 and Defrost with Aux AND allow me to run Emergency at any temp?
OK NOW FOR THE REAL QUESTION-
Is there a stat that I can do all this with that is-
Dual Fuel Capable
Adjustable Aux Lockout temps
Adjustable Deadand (current stat not adjustable via cycles per hour or any method but it does not cycle too often)
I have searched and searched for ALL the info on the
Honeywell T10
but cannot find any mention of the Lockout and Deadband settings.
Maybe I should just install a woodstove and Hot Toddy dispenser….:grin2:
