Basement - 625 sq feet
1st floor - 650 sq feet with some part of the staircase going up to the 2nd floor
Folks
I have had an old 15-year old York unit in my basement that serves basement & 1st floor and the motor fan finally caved and I've decided to go with Bosch IDS 2.0 heat pump technology (I'll be doing the 2nd floor later on too). Currently the basement unit has a return duct from the 1st floor and also pulls in air from the basement but he's recommending standing up the new unit on a stand and let it draw in air from all sides. He doesn't plan to have a direct connection to the return duct on the 1st floor but feels the unit will draw some air through there too. Between the basement and 1st floor, there is also a a vent opening in the staircase. He feels this is best for longevity of the unit
Is this recommended design and will it offer sufficient air circulation on the 1st floor?
Thx
