Hi,
I am looking for some help and advice before I seek to hire an hvac technician.
I have a Bryan 90i plus gas furnace.
About two years ago, the guy who installed our HVAC came to fix an issue where our Heat Pump unit gets frozen in the winter. I suppose the defrost cycle wasn't working, so I'm not exactly sure what he did as I wasn't there when he adjusted things on the thermostat. Apparently, he didn't even look at the furnace or the heat pump. He just pressed some buttons on the thermostat, took his money, and left.
After doing a bunch of research on the HVAC, I feel like something is wrong with this defrost cycle that causing consistent brownouts in the house. These brownouts only occur in the winter when using heating, but it doesn't happen when we have air conditioning on.
I'm just wondering when should the heat pump be on during heating. I observed that during the times of brownouts, the heat pump fan is on.
Is that supposed to be happening? Does that mean we're using the heat pump instead of the gas furnace?
