New HVAC Install - Two Questions

Had a new HVAC system installed back in mid-April this year. I was hospitalized (emergency spine surgery/recovery) for 5 weeks at that time, so I was not present for the contractor's installation. Also missed the end of heating season since I did not return home until mid-May.

During cooling season the AC seemed to run mostly OK - the house was comfortable.

Now heating season has begun and I noticed a couple of unusual things that lead me to my questions:
  1. Last week was mild (mid-60's) so the furnace did not run at all. But I did notice considerable condensation on the small diameter copper tube (liquid line) running from outdoor condenser to the indoor cooling coil (evaporator). The liquid line was also very cold. RH in basement (where furnace is located) was about 52%. Is this condensation normal for a new/modern HVAC system? I didn't think the RH was high enough to cause condensation, but the line was very cold. The condensation was significant -- a small puddle had former on top of the furnace and there was a wet spot on the basement floor. My old system was 33 years old, ran well and had never had condensation when neither heating or cooling was called.
  2. The other day when temperatures dropped into the 30's and while furnace was running, I went outside to check the air intake and vent PVC lines that were newly installed. My old system was a direct vent to the roof. When I went past the AC condensing unit I felt very warm air rising up from the unit. Never felt that with my old AC condenser. Is this normal for a modern HVAC system? It seemed that heat from the furnace was being pushed out through the outdoor condensing unit.

I am thinking that the second item points to either an installation problem or an issue with the indoor coil. Before calling the contractor who did the install, I thought I'd post these questions on this forum.

Any insights that you folks can provide on these two questions are appreciated.

If it makes any difference, the equipment is Ruud.
Many thanks!
