So I just had my new Friedrich floating point air pro ductless system installed last week. Having a handful of issues I was wondering if anyone knows anything about.
1. Temperature is not accurate: I set the units to heat my kids room overnight at 61 degrees, in the AM their rooms are 68 degrees. If I set it to 62, the temp ends up at 70. I really wanted their rooms to be around 66-67 but these things don't seem to understand how to maintain their set temperature.
I have tried the following:
- I tried using "IFEEL" mode, which uses the remote control to detect the temperature, the funny thing is as soon as I turn on IFEEL the remote shows you what it thinks the temperature is, and its always higher than my set point, yet the thing is still blowing hot air. I tried located the remote line of sight far from the unit, and also close to the unit in the hopes it would detect a higher temp and not get so warm. Whats odd is if the room is like 65 when I set it to 61 it stays off, but then I think at somepoint overnight, the room dips below 65, maybe 64, then the air handler kicks on, and shoots up the temperature so like 68. Its like it can't just give a little heat, it always seems to go crazy.
- Ive tried setting the fan speed really low as well, doesn't seem to help. I want to set this thing at 67 and I want it to maintain 67!
On my main floor I have similar issues, I set the temp to like 68 and then the room gets to like 73, but again, it doesnt turn on until the room is cold enough, but when it does it like doesn't stop in time and the temp raises too quickly. Does the thermostat need time to self adjust or something?
2. Dimmer feature randomly turns off. The light is super bright in a dark room, I used dimmer mode to keep the lights off, then twice overnight the lights randomly go back on, actually woke my kid up, I was livid (they are young) I turned it on at 645pm, checked her room at 10:30 pm the light was on, turned dimmer back on. 3am she wakes up screaming, the light woke her, so turned it off again. Not all units do it, no idea what's causing it. [I can probably solve this one with a decal over the temperature display but that's inconvenient. I might try to get a red translucent piece of plastic to at least change the color, red is dimmer and less likely to wake you up]
3. WiFi doesn't work, which is part of the reason I went with Friedrich was to have WiFi controls. I tried multiple air handlers, at first using the app to set it up, I would get an error connecting to the air handlers access point (after pressing the right swing button 6 times to enable WiFi set up) then after a few days, I could connect to it, the app would get to 100% configuring it, and then say it failed. Called Friedrich, lady opened a ticket with my issue, still no resolution.
