I recently had a Lennox SLP98UHV modulating furnace installed with an S30 thermostat. This is a single zone system. According to the furnace documentation this furnace can use an optional Discharge Air Temperature Sensor (DATS). According to the thermostat documentation, the DATS can be used to control the Heating Airflow Control Type which is either fixed CFM or fixed DAT.
Fixed DAT seemed like an interesting option, so I had the service tech come back a few days later and install the optional Discharge Air Temperature Sensor. He tried to change the Heating Airflow Control Type in the S30 thermostat to fixed DAT, but there is no menu option available. When running furnace diagnostics, the DATS is showing the correct temperature, so it is definitely installed and working correctly. But when looking in the furnace About menu, it states that the DATS is not installed. It seems like the furnace does not recognize that the DATS is installed.
He called Lennox tech support for help. They said that if the menu for Airflow Control Type fixed DAT is not available, the furnace does not support this function.
Is it true that this furnace does not support fixed DAT? If it does support fixed DAT, what does the tech need to do to have my furnace recognize that the DATS is installed?
Thanks for any thoughts on this issue.
