Hey, I have a 2 ton single stage Goodman heat pump system (handler: AVPTC25B14 heat pump: GSZ160241BE) with a HKS 10KW heat strip and a Honeywell T2 thermostat.
When I demand cooling the heat strip turns on too. Tech suggested a short, replaced all thermostat wire from unit to handler and thermostat to handler, no change. Wiring diagram says white wire goes from thermostat to air handler and heat pump to air handler with the emergency heat (brown wire) going from thermostat to air handler and tied into whites.
Obviously, when the white wire is disconnected from the thermostat the heat strip disengages and I get cold air.
Any ideas what could be causing this? Short on the board or in the heat strip wiring I assume.
