We got a Carrier Infinity 3-stage gas furnace in 2011. No AC. A while ago, it would go dead and read "System Malfunction." The dealer said it was a thermostat problem and they just replaced it with a Honeywell VisionPRO 8000 (TH8320R1003).
Original thermostat: With a target time of 7 AM, it would come on low heat/speed for 10 min at about 5:30 AM, then medium for 20-30 minutes and high for a bit until up to temp. We liked the pattern.
VisionPROthermostat: Target time still 7 AM, it comes on about 6 AM at low speed for 10 min. Then it goes to the noisy high speed for a while and then stops completely for 10 min. Then, back to high speed followed by stopping completely for a while.
It's a different algorithm, of course, but is there a way to get back to a logical and smooth transition through the stages? Thanks!
Summary: The original stat proceeded smoothly and logically. The VisionPRO is haphazard.
