My project is finishing up and the new Carrier infinity system is in but not yet operational. Having discussions on the best way to connect in the dehumidifier. We have an 8" inlet/ duct in place from the outside stone wall of the house --- my plan was to "Y" this so I have an 8" damper for stove make up air and 6" damper to the 6' fresh air connection on the April-Air.
I feel the best way to feed the April-Air's 10" inlet connection was a split between the crawl space and a vent someplace to the house ... this way it pulls from each area .....
We want the April-Air to dump it's conditioned air into the HVAC system so it gets mixed and distributed to the house.
The directions show the April Air sending its air to the supply side of the HVAC system? With the infinity system I have them set to run on low fan all the time. I have them in two houses and they work best this way. If I have the April-Air going into the supply ... it will always be fighting the Carrier unit?
Why not have the April-Air go to the return side of the Carrier .... now the two fans are helping each other?
My other question is the make up air -- the plan was to just have the 8" side of the previous "Y" from outside vent go to the return of the Carrier -- this way when the stove vent calls for the 8" damper to open the outside air is sucked in by the Carrier and filtered before going through the heater or AC. This requires another connection to the Carrier.
Can't I just place a second "Y" before the 10" inlet of the April-Air -- this way it pulls from the 8" side to the outside. I would need to relay I guess to start the unit somehow and add another damper so the unit is only pulling from the outside vent. I may be over thinking the stove problem -- it's only used a couple times a day and I would think just dumping that amount of unconditioned air into the unit would do little harm
