Return air inlet size

Hello,

We bought a house last winter. It appears the prior owners upgraded the HVAC system just before selling. This is a house built in the late 60s or early 70s. It is 1930sf and has a single return air inlet. We're in Los Angeles 10 miles from the coast.

I have a suspicion that the return air inlet is undersized for the unit that is now installed.

Here is the AC unit that is outside the house: Day and Night n4a560gkc101
Here is the furnace: N80ESL0902120A

I can't figure how many "tons" or BTUs the AC is. I wrote to the company but I have yet to get a response.

Can somebody give me a general idea of how big the return air inlet should be? I'd like to know how far off the mark we are. When I take the return register off and measure the area that is not obstructed by structural beams I get 200 to 250 sq-in.

Thank you for any help,

Oliver
