Tried installing a new thermostat with smart house capability, wired it for conventional because the customer assured me that the unit was a two piece unit and controls wouldn't work so rewired it for heatpump and when the heat setting is turned on the thermostat loses power and at the furnace unit a Click can be heard as if a relay was engaging. The fuses are tested with a volt meter for continuity and voltage transfer, the 4 fuses are working and transferring 120v across them. After all of this was not working i reinstalled the old thermostat unit and the same problem persisted. The cooling portion of the unit is confirmed not working due to a leak in refrigerant. The blower motor engages when set to the on position but while on auto and the heat is engaged nothing happens but a click at the furnace unit. I am trying to locate a factory service manual and wiring schematic for this product but have been unable to so far.
The unit is a 30 year old Amana with some sort of built in solar heating thing that they previous home owners had disconnect, This is only my second HVAC related job, i can test and work on modern heat pump systems with no problem but this system has thrown me for a loop, the wiring diagram is unlocatable, trying to search online for the model number doesnt work, i reached out to the company for specs but am not hopeful was wondering if anyone can lend assistance to me. I will attach pictures of the units in question.
I have attached the images of the furnace wiring and thermostat wiring
