Mystery Temperature Rise at Night

I have been paying more attention to my house in order to get a handle on my very high energy cost. I have a 2 story house with about 1200 sq ft down and 1200 sq ft up.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this mystery. I shut down both heat pumps for a night-time experiment. The outdoor temperature is 56 degrees at night yet my inside thermostats and monitoring thermometers show a steady RISE in temperature all night. I realize that there is thermal mass and that mass will give up temperature but I was surprised to see that the temperature would rise from 70 degrees to 77 degrees by morning when I ended the experiment. I ran this experiment when I realized that cooling was coming on during the night when I was kinda' expecting heat.

???
