I'm in the process of receiving quotes to replace a 2 ton heat pump and compressor for upstairs in my home in FL.
Currently have a 12 year old carrier unit, I believe it's a 12 seer. It has an evaporator coil leak so would rather replace entire unit than dump money into a 12 year old system.
Had 3 reputable contractors quote me, here are systems and model number:
1. Lennox Elite 15 seer
Condensor: EL15XP1-024
Air Handler: CBA25UHV-024
2. Trane 15 seer
Condensor: 4TWR5024
Air Handler: TEM6A0B24 - variable speed
3. Bryant 16 seer
Condensor: 226cna024000
Air Handler: FV4CNF002L00
All within same price range so money not a factor. All are single stage condensor units. Trane was only one to quote a variable speed handler.
I was leaning towards the Bryant because it had the highest seer rating. However, I was researching the variable speed handlers are better for high humidity.
Which would you recommend and why?
Thanks in advance.
